This Grand Rounds will review cases of patients with VSS with co-morbid conditions including mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), and Marfan Syndrome. Each of the conditions will be reviewed. The treatment options for these cases will be reviewed. As VSS can be comorbid with conditions associated with dysautonomia, the role of optometric phototherapy will be reviewed.
Learning Objectives:
Upon conclusion of this activity, attendees will be able to:
Review and describe the general treatment options for patients with Visual Snow Syndrome.
Know the treatment considerations for patients with Visual Snow Syndrome and mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI)/concussion.
Notice the implications of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) and some patients with Visual Snow Syndrome. This foundation will help the participant to consider when optometric phototherapy is indicated for these patients.
Recognize the characteristics of patients with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). The participant will better understand the treatment options and special considerations when managing patients with POTS and Visual Snow Syndrome.
Identify characteristics of patients with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS). The participant will better understand the treatment options and special considerations when managing patients with EDS and Visual Snow Syndrome.
Recognize the characteristics of patients with Marfan Syndrome. The participant will better understand the treatment options and special considerations when managing patients with Marfan Syndrome and Visual Snow Syndrome.
