Dr. Michelle Welch is a 1995 graduate of Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry. After graduation Dr. Welch joined the NSUOCO faculty and served the college as a clinical attending faculty member, a professor and Associate Dean for several years. Dr. Welch enjoys teaching others in the areas of ocular disease and optometric surgical procedures. Dr. Welch is currently a staff optometrist with the Choctaw Nation Health Services Authority and enjoys providing direct patient care at the Idabel clinic. Dr. Welch has maintained membership in the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians and the American Optometric Association since 1995. Dr. Welch has been a member of the OAOP Congress Committee and Executive Congress Committee. Dr. Welch has served as a member of the Board of Directors and the OAOP officer positions. Dr. Welch was chosen as the OAOP Optometrist of the year in 2013 and awarded the OAOP Distinguished Service award in 2020 and the AOA Distinguished Service Award in 2021. Dr. Welch is a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry, a member of the AOA Evidence Based Optometry committee, SECO board member, and a member of the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education. Dr. Welch lives in Southeastern Oklahoma with her husband Charlie and their many pets.
